Izzy is a very talented wedding planner!
Izzy is in her element helping to plan the upcoming wedding. She tries to enlist Jace’s help but he thinks that finding the Warlock who gave Jocelyn a sleeping potion is more important. He and Alec are still not speaking and so he has no interest in the wedding. Jace is determined to find Valentine so he can make up for letting him go the last time they met.
Clary and Alec are sort of friends now?
Clary and Luke are discussing Jocelyn’s condition while standing by her bedside. Luke apologizes for not telling Clary the truth sooner but she is more concerned about waking her mother than blaming anyone. Alec interrupts them to locate his bride-to-be. He and Clary discuss Jocelyn. Clary thanks Alec for his help in finding her mother. Alec thanks Clary for returning the Mortal Cup so that Izzy could be cleared of the charges brought against her. While they are talking, Alec gets a text from Magnus and rushes off to meet him.
Magnus gives Alec an ultimatum!
Alec arrives at Magnus’ apartment looking for information on the Warlock that gave Jocelyn a sleeping potion. Magnus tries to get Alec to admit that he doesn’t love Lydia, but Alec gets confused and defensive. He accuses Magnus of treating the whole thing as if it were a game even though Alec’s family honor is at stake. Magnus tells Alec that he has a choice to make, and that he won’t ask again.
Climon are going to the wedding together.
Clary calls Simon to invite him to the wedding as her date. He asks why she isn’t going with Jace and she brushes past the subject. She tells Simon he’s the one who knows her best and she wants to see him. Simon is thrilled to be invited.
Who is Ragnor Fell?
Jace and Clary invite Magnus to the Institute for a meeting with Hodge. They discuss which Warlocks would be powerful enough to make a sleeping potion for Jocelyn. The name that comes up is Ragnor Fell, an old friend of Magnus’ who used to be the High Warlock of London. Magnus agrees to go with them to Ragnor’s secret country estate to ask him about Jocelyn. At that moment, Alec and Lydia arrive. There is a lot of awkwardness between the two of them and Magnus. Alec is annoyed that he wasn’t told about the meeting, but Magnus tells him he’ll be much too busy with the wedding to get involved in their mission.
Jace is not in the mood to talk!
Clary tries to get Jace alone so that they can talk about their new relationship as brother and sister. Jace tries to avoid the conversation but eventually admits that he feels very uncomfortable about everything. Clary tries to explain that it wasn’t their fault, and that they couldn’t help their feelings. Jace doesn’t seem convinced.
Izzy wins the award for best sister!
Alec and Izzy are talking about the impending arrival of their parents for the ceremony. Izzy tries to convince Alec to change his mind one more time but backs down when he gets defensive. She says she’ll stand by him no matter what. She also insists on arranging a bachelor party for him despite his objections.
Jace and Clary are fighting again.
Jace, Clary and Magnus arrive just outside of London through a portal. Magnus questions the other two about their sibling relationship and they immediately start arguing about it. Jace doesn’t want to acknowledge Jocelyn as his mother because he believes she abandoned him. Clary insists that her mother thought Jace was dead. As they are having this heated discussion, a burst of green flames appear and Jace pulls Clary out of danger.
Where is the Book of White?
Magnus explains that the flames are a test. Only the pure of heart and intention can pass through them and into Ragnor’s estate. The three of them walk through but only Clary appears on the other side. She is confused but goes into Ragnor’s house alone. It seems to be empty until she finds Ragnor hiding in a painting. He admits that he made the potion for Jocelyn and asks what Clary will give him in exchange for his help. Once she says she’ll give him anything, he clicks his fingers to reveal Jace and Magnus sitting on the chairs beside her. He had hidden them to see if she would offer her a better deal than they had. He says that he will need the Book of White in order to cure Jocelyn. As he goes to look for an object that might help them locate the book, he gets attacked by a Shax Demon. Magnus tries to heal him but Ragnor dies in his arms. Magnus is distraught and portals Jace and Clary away while he grieves.
Who is the mole?
Back at the Institute, Clary and Jace bump into Izzy who wants Jace to go to her brother’s bachelor party. Jace is more interested in finding out how Valentine knew they were going to Ragnor’s place and was able to send a Shax Demon after them. He insists that there must be a mole in the Institute. Izzy insists that these people are family and would never betray them, but Jace suspects that Lydia may be the informant. Clary offers to question her.
Lydia is accused of treason!
Clary tells Lydia what happened and implies that she may have had something to do with it. Lydia is furious to be accused of treason, and points out that she would have given Valentine the Mortal Cup by now if she were working with him. She also reveals that she knows Alec has feelings for Magnus but she still respects him and his sense of duty. The wedding was Alec’s decision so she isn’t going to call it off. Clary asks how she can be sure that Lydia is trustworthy and Lydia points out that she has managed to trust Valentine’s daughter.
Simon doesn't know much about bachelor parties!
Simon is at Hotel DuMort trying on some jackets for the wedding. Izzy arrives and compliments his style. She asks him for help planning the bachelor party. Simon points out that he’s a bit young to have been to any bachelor parties, but he thinks they are about solidifying male bonds. He believes it’s about friends proving they’ll still be friends when they’re married. He also suggests strippers but Izzy is less impressed by that idea.
Magnus and Camille used to date!
Magnus is looking at old photographs when Ragnor appears behind him. He says that even death couldn’t keep him away and that he’ll always be there for his friend. They reminisce on a time when Magnus was in love with Camille but she didn’t really have the same feelings as he did on commitment and monogamy. She didn’t believe that immortal souls needed love. You'll all recall a certain necklace from episode 4, perhaps?
Jace and Alec have para-bonded again!
Izzy leads Alec blindfolded down some stairs and when he takes off his blindfold -- there's Jace. Neither of them want to talk and Jace is about to leave when he turns around and apologizes for everything. They both miss being able to talk to each other. The two of them discuss Clary and the fact that Jace was falling in love with her before he found out she was his sister. He thinks he must be sick inside. Alec comforts him and asks him to give him away at the wedding. Jace says he’d be honored. You know what's really impressive about Alec? That he's basically all about honor and duty and puts Shadowhunting first.
Dead guys give the best advice.
Magnus is still talking to Ragnor about past loves. Ragnor points out that Magnus surely could have won Alec's heart if he had really wanted to. He promises Magnus that he will one day find a love that is worth fighting for. Magnus is inspired by this and decides to talk to Alec again. Ragnor disappears.
Here comes the bride!
Maryse and Robert arrive at the wedding and tell Alec how proud they are of him. Jace helps adjust his bow tie and Alec thanks him for being there for his big day. Simon arrives to escort Clary and Jace watches from the alter as they embrace. Brother Jeremiah calls the ceremony to order. Izzy walks down the aisle in a gold dress followed by Lydia in her wedding gown. At the altar, Lydia takes a gold bracelet and puts it on Alec's wrist, while he takes a necklace and places it around her neck. Brother Jeremiah tells them to mark each other with the marriage rune on their hands and above their hearts. As Lydia is drawing the rune on Alec's hand there is a commotion at the back of the room.
MALEC! Their eyes meet across the room...
Magnus appears at the end of the aisle! Jace is surprised! Izzy admits that she invited him! Maryse is furious at the interruption and demands that he leave! Magnus tells her that he won't leave unless Alec tells him to. Alec tells Lydia he can't marry her! She assures Alec that she just wants him to be happy and that she understands. Alec walks toward Magnus, as if in a daydream, and KISSES HIM! Yes! Yes! Huzzah!
Who invited the Vampire?
Everyone reacts to the Malec kiss. Maryse looks furious and storms off, followed by her husband. Izzy tells Alec how proud she is of him, while Simon compares their kiss to
And we all fall in love with him again. Lydia tells Jace she'll return to Idris and throw herself into work. Jace assures her there will always be a place for her at the Institute. Clary and Jace start to talk about their relationship again before being interrupted by Magnus. He tells them that his visit is not solely about Alec.
Could Camille be the hero of the hour?
Magnus leads Jace, Clary and Alec to a table where he has gathered all of Ragnor's magical belongings. Clary spots a bookmark that she remembers seeing in a book of spells that Magnus owned in the alternate dimension. Magnus uses the bookmark to locate the current owner of the Book of White. He sees Camille, locked into a coffin in the basement of the Hotel DuMort. Clary worries that Camille won't help them because you know, they're basically arch-enemies now. They had that cemetery throwdown and also, you know, Camille is responsible for Simon's transformation. Jace says Camille won't have a choice.
Is Lydia ok?
After the wedding, Lydia takes the Mortal Cup out of a secret compartment in the wall. And then someone grabs her from behind and throws her on the ground. As she struggles to reach for the Mortal Cup on the floor next to her, another hand reaches out to pick it up.
Clary invites Jace into her bedroom to show him the box she had found with her mother's belongings. It says J.C. on it which Jace recognizes as his initials. He admits that his full name is Jonathan Christopher. Jace is worried that he doesn't know who he is anymore. He panics that there is a darkness in him, and that part of him wanted to go with Valentine when he was invited through the portal.
Time for the first official Malec date!
Magnus and Alec probably want to kiss some more but Maryse and Robert show up. Maryse is furious that Alec humiliated her at the wedding and claims that she doesn't recognize him anymore. Robert remains after she leaves and tells Alec to give his mother time to adjust. He explains that he doesn't understand the situation himself but that he realizes the world is changing. He asks if Alec is in love and his son seems embarrassed and confused. Magnus steps in explaining that it is all very new. After Robert leaves, Alec asks Magnus if he wants to get a drink with him sometime.
Hodge is a traitor!
Luke sits with a sleeping Jocelyn and tells her about the wedding and promising that they will be able to share their love someday. Hodge arrives and offers to look after Jocelyn while Luke gets some rest. After Luke leaves, Hodge puts on a ring and twists it. A projection of Valentine appears in the room. Valentine asks Hodge if he has the cup. Hodge promises to bring the cup to Valentine if he can break the rune that traps him in the Institute. Valentine agrees to the deal.
